Flexible joint

XTJ JACKING PIPE

application field

Trenchless pipeline installation where open trench construction is difficult, restricted or not desirable.

Suitable for crossings under roads, railways, rivers, existing infrastructure, buildings or other areas where excavation from the surface is not possible or should be minimized.

The XTJ jacking pipe is used for pipe jacking and similar trenchless installation methods, depending on project-specific ground conditions and construction requirements.

Key specs

DN range: DN250–2000
Wall thickness class: K9 (other wall thickness classes available on request)
Pipe length (Lu): 4000 or 6000 mm

Sealing principle

The XTJ jacking pipe uses a T-type flexible joint with a rubber sealing ring positioned inside the socket.

When the spigot end is inserted into the socket, the rubber sealing ring is compressed and creates contact pressure between the pipe, the gasket and the socket. This provides a reliable watertight connection.

The flexible joint allows limited angular deflection and supports safe installation and operation under project-specific conditions.

Pipe Structure

The XTJ jacking pipe is based on a ductile iron pipe with a T-type flexible joint.
A tubular reinforced concrete protective layer is applied to the outside of the pipe. In addition, a jacking flange is welded to the spigot end. During pipe jacking, the jacking force is transferred evenly from the welded flange to the socket end.

This structure helps prevent deformation of the spigot end and protects the external concrete layer during the jacking process.

joint features

The XTJ jacking pipe is designed for trenchless installation by pipe jacking.
It combines the sealing performance of a flexible T-type joint with a reinforced external structure for the transfer of jacking forces. This allows pipelines to be installed under obstacles while reducing the need for open excavation.

The pipe is suitable for demanding crossings and urban infrastructure projects where surface disruption must be minimized. Jacking force, soil conditions, installation method and pipe alignment should be verified for each project.
